Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Warriors Party

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a colorful mix of personalities, and a gripping narrative featuring divine entities, evil spirits, and malevolent powers expanding in strength within the urban setting.

Heads-up: Spoilers for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 lie ahead.

The Soldiers Table Introduced

The third episode concluded with a dramatic pause and revealed the first table of adventurers who will separate from the primary party to begin their independent quest, separate from the other two tables.

This warrior group features the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis), the agile character (the talented performer), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).

The Reason for Division

Considering an extensive roster, it was clear from the start that keeping everyone at a single group would be impossible.

Hence, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Prelude, intertwining the characters’ stories before branching into three separate parties: Fighters, Schemers, and Questers.

What Defines the Combat Party

As described by the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for participants who are drawn to a traditionally charged fight-heavy gameplay experience where non-violent answers are scarce.

Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might look out of place, but the developments of the third episode make it clear why these five characters are ideally matched for the combat party.

Reasons to Leave

To begin with, the party has a clear idea where to go next after a violent initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.

An old friend of the deceased character—whose demise started the story’s plot—used the foes for his selfish purposes, invading the secret base, attacking Thimble, and swiping all the powerful objects to auction.

The traitor then cleared his obligations and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd hot on his heels.

Personal Motivations

Additionally, each adventurer has a specific drive to leave the city the metropolitan area:

  • The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, wants revenge.
  • The knowledgeable figure knows the northern area and cautions that it is a nasty location.
  • The strong character and Wicander, having defied his house’s orders to eliminate Teor and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
  • But, their status as key figures in House Halovar could help the party reach locations they normally couldn’t.
  • Furthermore, The grateful character vowed a life debt to Wicander for his rescue and will now accompany him wherever.

Wanted and Hunted

In addition, all of them are hunted by the powers that rule Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally too risky:

  • The agile adventurer and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
  • Tyranny and Wicander defied House Halovar and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
  • The fighter is wanted dead by the clan.

This means them little choice but to journey toward the northern region in quest for Casimir.

What’s Next?

According to episode three’s Cooldown, we discover that the warrior group will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the players to assemble the Explorers and Schemers tables.

Audiences can anticipate finding out which adventurers will be in which group in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, released on next week.
